By Amy Butler

As the child is developing, there is the need to equip them with some essential skills and especially before they join schools. These are aimed at ensuring that they get to understand some critical things in life at the same time enable development of their body organs such as hands and the brain. Occupational therapy toys for preschoolers are recommended by many pediatricians as they have been proven to help kids improve on these skills before joining school. Below are some of these items.

Introduce toys that encourage them to try and solve problems. Some of these include puzzles and building castles. The kid is able to learn the simple abilities to come up with individual solutions. Being curious, they will want to know what happens next when a particular step is taken. Continued use of these items pushes them to open up their mind to unlimited opportunities and ideas.

Another solution is the use of vertical services items. At this age, they are trying to stand up and use all their body parts. Introducing shading and painting on vertical surfaces such as walls. Shoulders and limbs get to develop when the child uses these activities and items. Again it develops their coordination of all these parts of their body.

Movement toys are another idea. Staying stagnant makes them develop some of the parts, but they are unable to develop others such as the use of their legs and thus causing an imbalanced growth. Bring in tricycles and even balls that will make them get moving from one place to the other and in the process make use of their entire body.

It is also important to have toys that encourage them to use both hands. Once they get to kindergarten, there is need to have both hands working simultaneously where one functions on the primary activity while the other as a helper. This includes drawing, sponge and making necklaces. In the use of all these items, one hand undertakes the entire work while the other functions as the helper to complete the task.

In addition, pretend play toys are applicable to this group. Buy them those items that they want to use in their pretend play. Children are very curious. To boost their imagination, try using these items. Slowly as they use the commodities, imagination is developed and so is their creative thinking. When they face school, the same is applied to solve their studies and also for interactions.

Moreover, try out weird ones on the child. Some of the items are very stick and may feel a little discomforting on them when used. They are however crucial for their overall development. They include pasta, mad and glow in the dark and tree houses. These are highly effective in teaching them on the other side of life but only when used under supervision.

Lastly, introduce items such as swings and play tunnels. This helps develop working together and the element of sharing as they need to be used with others so that they can get the fun. They will only feel complete when they use such things with others. Once they get to school, they are in a position to do the same since they already know its value.
