By Margaret Kelly

Every person has a different way in which they react or perceive problems or issues. In simple terms, there exist different styles of thinking. It is these styles that usually determine how a person will react to a certain problem. It will also determine what kind of solution they will come up with to best tackle the situation at hand. Taking thinking styles assessment is important as it helps people know what kind of thinkers they are and it also helps them to use this to achieve greater heights in success.

The importance of getting to know your type of thinking is important as it helps you appreciate yourself even more as well as other people around you, but before you can take the test, it is important that you first get to know the various types. The styles are five in number, idealist forming number one on the list. These types of thinkers often have big ideas and extreme expectations. They make the best out of everything they get involved in making them to be perceived as perfectionists. They love working in a unit and help others achieve the best. The thinkers are also cooperative; thus, easy to work with.

The second type of thinker is the synthesist. These type possess wild imagination and creativity. The philosophers are often very curious and inquisitive. For this sole reason they are known to be very argumentative. They love analyzing and interpreting different kinds of ideas and views. To others they often seem disjoint. They do not pay attention to the ideas of other people and therefore seem as very argumentative. The great thing about their way of thinking is that they often save one from making the wrong decisions.

Another type of thinkers is the analysts. They take facts seriously most especially if the facts presented before them make sense. They have a passion for gathering data or facts, measuring them and placing them into the appropriate categories. They are known to pay great attention to detail and do not like missing facts. They also prefer working with patterns that are predictable and this is one of the major reasons why they sort for certain methodologies to solve specific kinds of problems. Their heightened levels of accuracy make them great problem solvers.

Then there are the pragmatists. Here you will find a person whose only focus is entirely on action. They take things in stride tackling issues a step at a time. Flexibility and adaptability make them good at getting things done often focusing on the task at hand.

Finally, there are the realists. The thinkers are known to be fast at solving problems. They quickly analyze situations and comb through possible solutions until they find the most suitable result. They also have a passion for challenges. For this reason they are undoubtedly the best problem solvers.

Most people make use of one or two of the styles mentioned above. There is, however another group of people who, have the ability of using all of the above.

It is important to know your style so that you may work on yourself to better your skills and thus promote success. Understanding and accepting that people think differently will also further broaden your perspective.
