Even as one of the non believers of trial, he published books which main focus concerns on satanic possession and such. In spite of this, he combined science with mysteries on his works. During his earlier years, Cotton greatly admired the heroic and bravery acts of Indian and a particular author who goes by the name of Mary Rowlandson. It was when his father made prefaces for her.

Williams credibility took long years before it slowly emerged. During 1702 that Puritan preacher Mather, make religious stories which portrayed Williams as an individual who is completely harmful and dangerous. Unfortunately for Roger, he became an enemy for many Puritans. Cotton wrote a lot more negative ideas and info pertaining such person.

There are other significant dates and events which derailed situations and cause changes for many years. Apparently, it seems that both individuals are only fighting for what they considered right. Both Roger and Mather fight extremely hard for their political beliefs and views making them sworn enemy.
