Alternative Earthcare & The Signs Of Poison Ivy

By David Kellan

Poison ivy seems to be a byproduct of any camping or hiking trip. What this means is that you might have come across - if not come into direct contact with - poison ivy during some time in your life. Alternative Earthcare will tell you that while this can be extremely irritable to the skin, it's not like it can't be treated. Here is what you should know about treatment and, more important, the signs that contact with said plant entail.

One of the most notable symptoms of poison ivy, according to Alternative Earthcare, is the onset of a rash. The rash in question is a shade of bright red and it's usually the most prominent a day or so after contact with the plant is made. Depending on how severe the exposure is, the rash might be more widespread. Whatever the case may be, this is perhaps the most noticeable symptom that one can associate with poison ivy.

What if your skin starts to blister, though, which is another sign of poison ivy exposure? When your skin blisters, in this scenario, it becomes a bright shade of red. In this sense, it's not unlike the rash covered earlier. Also like the rash, though, blistering tends to go away on its own, so do not irritate the matter further. If it fails to fade away on its own, as is the case in more serious situations, immediate medical attention will be required.

Did you know that, in some cases, exposure to poison ivy can result in trouble breathing? This usually comes about when the plant itself is burning and the smoke itself is inhaled. From there, a higher level of discomfort is experienced, to the point where east end tick control specialists will recommend a higher level of help. Fortunately, for those who are concerned about encountering this particular experience, treatment exists.

If you didn't know already, mild rashes that come about as a result of poison ivy tend to go away a few days after they first form. Aside from some mild discomfort, the aforementioned rash isn't terribly serious. Of course, there might be irregularities on the skin that form as a result of poison ivy exposure. For this reason, you must consult your doctor as soon as possible. By doing so, you'll receive the required level of medical attention.
